Inspired by the trickery, deceit, and entanglement of 19th century folklore, the Trouble series brings players together through dilemmas of all kinds. This series incorporates Danish culture, exposing players to problems they may have never encountered. For this set, graphics are inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairytales, The Little Mermaid, The Snow Queen, The Ugly Duckling, and Thumbelina.
Detailed borders, reminiscent of 19th century Danish Romanticist imagery, are filled with small symbols and hints toward the Hans Christian Anderson story they play homage to. Handrawn backrounds made on Procreate use texture and light to create a mysterious yet endearing quality to the cards.

The Snow Queen’s quintessential conviction and firm deductions highlight the importance here of making a single choice and predicting what others will do.
A reference to the mermaid’s curious and inquisitive personality, this category tests players’ factual knowledge about Denmark.
Players must channel the quick yet thoughtful Thumbelina in this category, correctly answering the prompt before everyone else.
Inspired by the story’s themes of idiosyncrasy and being “a diamond in the rough“ players try to out-do each other’s answers in this category.
