Veins, Wires, Vines
2021

Veins, Wires, Vines
November 2021
16” x 20”
Graphite on paper

In this piece, I played with the visual similarities of veins, wires, and vines, and juxtaposed the contrasting themes to create a balanced and serene subject, yet one that’s deeply disturbing at its core. The intermixing of the organic and mechanic has become something impossible to ignore. We’re constantly reaching for our phones, even when we reasonably know that they’re dead or that we don’t have them with us. It’s almost become another limb to us, a limb with superhuman abilities. If the definition of a cyborg is a being that is part human and part machine, have we become cyborgs? What’ll be next?
